429 stroker?

I was reading in 4x4 garade magazine about a featured truck. Stated the motor was a "Ford Super Cobra jet V-8, one of fords all time great muscular engines ( That's a 429 block, boared 0.080 over, with a 460 crank, stroked 4.20.)" My question is this correct or are they talking about a 428 block? I have a 429 that I keep changing my mind on what to do with and if this is correct and I wanted to stroke my motor is all I have to do is drop a 460 crank and new connecting rods in? is that what the 4.20 is talking about, the rods. Like I said the motor changes in my mind daily as you all know how that goes, I want to make it a great truck with a great motor but want to do it on the first shot and do it right, thanks again for all that read and reply

A 429 and 460 are the same exact block. The difference is the crank, and pistons, rods are exactly the same.
It's very common to stroke those out and there are many options.

The "Super Cobra Jet" is a tag people like to throw on everything they can. That is a designation for the heads as I understand it. CJ, and SCJ heads.

Like TommiFIN said, go to 460ford.com the knowledge over there is amazing and a great group of guys.

The 460 crank will not fit in a 428 block, so they are talking the 429.

all a scj is,is the same as a cj with a solid lifter cam in it and the heads have screwin studs w/guide plates for the push rods and they both use forge pistons with just one valve releif on them.so all you would have to do to your 9 would rebuild with cj pistons run a scj cam and find the heads (lots of luck there) they also used aluminum valecovers with the cobrajet logo on them

if you want to stroke your 429 you can get a 4.15" or 4.3" or 4.5" stroker crank for relatively cheap- the 4.5" stroke crank is only around 400 dollars, the connecting rods are about 400 as well, and .030 over pistons are around 700, and then balancing. a 4.5" stroke and .030 overbore gives a 545, a 4.3" stroke and .030 overbore gives a 521, and a 4.15" stroke with a .030 overbore gives a 503
