Please help decode my 1956 VIN
My VIN is
F10V6K-23560-5000
color "S"
Product code is 31EDN3505B
Trans 3
rear axle 3.73
some others were 110-143-4000
And how does one find out your factory options, # of that model with options known to exist?, and other neat facts ??--Any good suggestions on an individual or company that does this research--Thanks everyone
Scott
F10 = F-100 conventional cab
V = 272 CID (light duty) engine with 2 bbl carb
6 = 1956 model year
K = Kansas City Assembly Plant
23560 consecutive unit number
Same VIN as my 56 except mine was made in Twin Cities
and has a different unit number.
110 = wheel base
The 3.73 axle ratio was not a regular production option for 56, is that the number on the door tag? Or on the axle? Do you have a production Dana 44 rear axle? The center section removed from the back, where a 9" axle center section removes from the front.
Color code "SS" was used for special order colors, like fleet vehicles. Do you have a single S? If you have numbers in the lower right corner of the VIN plate, you have Domestic Special Order vehicle.

I have a 56 with the 3.73 dana. It is stated on my door tag so maybe it was a regular production option in 56?

My color code is a single S and there are no additional numbers at the bottom corner of the VIN, just 2 stars imprints by the letters DSO
There is also no VIN tag in the glove box if there was ever to be one??
If this helps, my father is third owner and the truck is white,white interior and exterior except the fenders have been painted over and the fenders show previous color of what I call sky blue
The second owner of the truck purcased it from an Officer at an Air Force base in CO--Would white/sky blue fenders be a "Special color for a fleet vehicle?????--For the military/Air Force back then
Any Help Appreciated
