Great looking XL Super Duty, one of the best I've seen, if it wasn't for the sealed beam headlights and the gray grill I would've never guessed it was an XL trim truck!

Gee I'm all blushin and stuff now. Thanks. Seriously. Compliments on the ride from the picky crowd even.
RE: the XL, man, that's what I wanted and I held out a long time to find just the right one. I LOVE the vinyl floors. I mean, it is a work truck after all, and I get a lot of junk in there from time to time. Back when I still had a 150 I always had XLT's but I really don't miss it. I can roll my own windows down for 2 grand, and I've got air, and a cd deck, so not much really that I need.
Just about everything I've done to it has roots in work, towing, something like that. Darn little aesthetics wise until the wheels, which while I really like the 05 grille look and those lights, that's really just a looks thing. It doesnt help pull the trailer any better, so thus far I've waffled a little on that one. I'll probably pull the trigger though some day.
Lifes too short to drive an ugly truck, right? Isnt that someones tag line around here?

An ugly truck is better than no truck at all.

First off, I totally dont believe anyone who tells me now that it must ride rough. I thought that might happen, but no doubt about it, a much smoother ride than my BFGs were.
Someone a month ago was asking about weight. 131lbs, wheel and tire and nuts.
I do not feel any difference in steering. I have the DR lift and theres no rub issues. It looks close to the bumper when the wheel is straight ahead but you cant make it hit, or at least I havent been able to.
Road noise, a little. Which is the tire, not the wheel. Doesnt really make me feel one way or the other. Its a diesel after all.
Quality of the product. This one might matter to someone thinking of buying. I always ask about quality, fit and finish, all that. Way, way, way better than the aftermarkets I'm pitching. These forged rims have attention to detail everywhere. Kind of impressive really. I'm used to having the show face polished and everything else just rough.
I dont have a gallery yet, and its dark out now but I'll try and get to that this week sometime.
Your findings are about the same as mine from 5 years ago. Your 285's on aluminum wheels are only slightly heavier than my 245's on chrome steel Ricksons (131 lbs vs. 125 lbs.). I also don't feel a "steering" difference, but I do feel a "braking" difference. There is definitely more "rotating mass" to slow down.

My pics are in my gallery.

I do like the way they fill up the wheel well.
