I think I have narrowed it down to water getting on a conection somewhere seems to happen when the roads are wet. Anybody know where to start checking a leaky connection? The first 5 fuses I have blown are the running lights and dash lights. Today it was raining and I blew the radio and my gauges quit working any other Ideas
This is going to be a bear to find i believe. I would start with the fuse block under the dash check the back of it for signs of moisture. If it checks OK the go to the VSM. After that it would just be a one at a time connector check under the dash
Well I can almost gaurantee your windshield is leaking and letting water run down onto your fuse box under the drivers dash. You will want to fix it ASAP as it will damage the fuse box and RUIN you GEM module that is mounted to the back of the fuse box. The GEM alone costs over $400 to replace, and that does not even mention the fuse box cost... Hope this helps!
Please help! I Keep Burning out the #12 Fuse which is for the OCBII/Cigar Lighter. What can be down to stop this. I can not get my Truck to throw any codes due to this problem.
I'm wondering, too, if he isn't getting moisture in those A-pillar guages as well, either from the windshield side or the door moulding.

If your cigarrette lighter is used, whether by you or a previous owner, it could be the lighter itself or debris in the socket. the lighter gets old, shorts out. or burns out and pieces get left in the socket.
another alternative is something contaminating the OBDII connector, but that is rather unlikely.

Starting with the 02's, the GEM was eliminated and replaced with a VSM mounted on the firewall, just above the transmission hump. Never-the-less, a leaky widshield could be allowing water to damage either.
well I found it boys after 700 bucks of diagnostics. The gear selector switch shorted out. The place repaired it free of charge since they had it for 3 weeks. But get this. They hooked it up wrong and fried my whole fuse panel. So they replaced that threw a grill new batteries and threw a spare alternator in the back for my troubles.
