I have a 1955 F100. I need to know what type steering column I need that will hook up to the Toyota power steering conversion kit. Thanks for your help.
I didn't use a Toyota unit, but I'd think any column would work with the right universal joint combination. I used a Caddy column with a volare box and just matched the Borgensen joints to the spline counts on each end... I've got an article on the tech page on the swap or you can link to it from my page at jniolon.clubfte.com
I think I read the tech article from Bobs F100 and a chevy column would go right in and you could use your stock column by cutting it down to fit. They either had an article in their catalog or sent a free tech article.
I used the toyota box with the toyota shaft (u-joint). I cut the top part where it separate from the lower section about 7"; the stock shaft fits perfectly in the toyota shaft. Cut the stock shaft and column tube to whatever length you desire. When completed you have powersteering with the stock look. You can also purchase a borgesen joint for about $90 and use just about any column you desire.
