I have a '94 F-150 extra cab 4x4 with 302 and auto tranny. The air bag light has been flashing since I bought the truck, but now the light is off and there is a very loud, annoying beeping coming from under the dash. No one I know has ever heard of this! Any ideas??
Yes that is the airbag service warning. It means that your airbag is not working properly. If you have the lil' blue service book that came with the truck there is more info in there. You can't service the airbag properly yourself your best to take to your favorite mechanic or the dealership. If you don't have the blue book from your truck let me know I'll scan a couple pages for you.
Fordman_Evs, Speaking of the lil' blue service book....do you know where i can find one of those in good condition? I know where you can get the Owners Manuals from but I beleive that is all they carry. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Quicklook is right ebay is the cheapest, junkyard sometimes carry them, as well as used car dealerships. At least here in BC anyways. My book(s) came with my truck they are in a brown fake leather case. There is a small thin blue book simply called "Maintence Schedule" it is essentialy a large check list of maintence that should be done at various mileage intervals. The second is a larger (about the size of a paperback novel) and it contains various info bits about the truck. And th name on the front says "Owner Guide".
So, to answer your question I would called them a "Owner or Service Guide".
Thanks Fordman_Evs, I guess they never changed those ugly fake leather cases until '97. I am missing all the books. I wish I had the case as well as the books. I have seen some on ebay with all of them together. I think I'll try that first.
Just to add -- I believe that since the beeping has started and your light is now off, this probably means that the bulb has burnt out. May need to replace that even after fixing the airbag system.
