I'm thinking of switching the old bench seat out of my 84 F-250. I found a set of high back buckets and console in an 89 Bronco that match color wise and look really sharp.
Other than the obvious holes I need to drill in the floor pan, is there anything else I need to be looking at to do this swap? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Bryan
Welcome to FTE Oggie. You can do the swap, but I would make sure you definitely ad some sort of support for the holes you drill towards the middle of the cab. Many people who have done this swap, use some metal plates, etc. The outer holes (closest to the door on each side) will already line up. Lastly, you will have some "fun" with the the heat shield on the passenger side. It is riveted in place and covers the area you will need to drill for the passenger bucket seat. Good luck and you can also do a search as there are a lot a folks who have described what they did to do this properly.
In my truck, only the outer holes on the drivers side lined up... The pass side seat flips forward, and it on a fixed base, not on tracks, and I had to drill all 4 holes.
Definatley re-enforce the floor where you bolt the seats down, I've seen the results of not a couple times(bolts pull out of the floor, or the floor splits open around the hole,) and I definatley don't want to see what would happen in an accident.
I also suggest grabbing the buckle end of the seat belts out of the seat donor, makes life alot easier.
As for that heat shield, mine conventley fell off when I looked at it the wrong way... The rivets were toast... LOL
