My steering wheel has cruise control which doesn't work. I found a new grant wheel I want to install. what will be the best way around the wires for the cruise control?
Hey, Bill that doesn't look like an 1986 F250 dash. Unless, FORD IS DODGE. Anyway If you take off the wheel on your 86. There are two bushings on the turn signal switch. One is cruise, one is HOT. You will need the HOT lead for the horn. other then that you should be go to go. Email me if you need further help.

You are right thats the wheel I put in my 73 Dodge D100. I have both and like the wheel so I would like to put one in my F250 too. The horn has been moved to a universal button on my dash since the plastic carrier in the steering column and I'm too cheap to buy a new one right now since they are over $135.00 at Ford parts dept.I'm still fixing screw ups from the last owner.
Is the only thing wrong with the steering wheel the horn button/Combination cruise controls?
If so you have a look at the E-series vans. They use the same type wheel and horn button.
But I know what you mean about those horn buttons being expencive. Mine fell to bits a few weeks ago. I fixed it using super glue, and some plastic from the case of a VHS video cassette tape. It works great and you would never know what I did to it either.
Still, the next time I find a good one in the wreckers,
If you want to check out your Cruise control to see if it works, try checking the the top of the brake arm under the dash. There should be a button looking device that senses when you depress the brake and turns off the cruise. It is adjustable. I have seen alot of Ford truck owners throw in the towel after checking everything else but this. What happens, as in my case, that button shifteed over and it was always popped out. The brake arm should push it in when at rest. I re-adjusted it and after 19 years of no Cruise, it worked again! Let me know if you need help locating it.

Thanks Coneynew the Cruise control has been disconnected from the carb linkage so I never really hooked it up.It was that way when I bought it then the carb was leaking worse than a sinking ship so I bought a edelbrock 600 carb to go on in it's place again I didn't hook it up never could find any adjustments and the proper way to hook it up.
I would like to get it all working again but I need to buy a new harness. But I would like a custom wheel do they make one that will work with the Cruise control?

It seems to me I saw a post here awhile back and a guy wanted the same thing you want and ended up moving cruise switches to the dash. I was only teasing you on the dash. I have an 88 D250 Dodge. It's amazing how little the dashes have changed from 73 to 93.

No problem I'm thinking about moving the gas tank from the cab to the rear of the truck and finding some newer seats to go in. I have pictures taken I need to go to cardomain to post them.
