Low Fuel

Hello all

I don’t know what’s wrong, but every time the low fuel light comes on and when I go to gas station the max fuel i can put in is about 80ltrs

The tank is 135ltrs so that means that i have about 55ltrs left in the tank.

Is this normal?

On my dodge I had fuel left till empty, is there an external device that can show me that?

Thank you for your help

the trucks have a reserve built into the guage that helps you keep from running out of gas. my truck still has about 4 gallons in it when the low fuel light is on (30 gallon tank) every f-150 I've owned does that. actually, every Ford I've ever owned has had some sort of reserve

take it to the dealer and see what they say. That is to much fuel in the tank for the low fuel light to come on.

I just filled-up my new 07 F-150 for the first time. It read 10 miles to empty, but it only held 25.5 gallons (30 gallon tank). It would have gone more like 70 or 80 miles before running completely out.

Its a safety precaution. The fuel in the tank is what keeps the fuel pump cool. As to how much fuel is needed to keep it cool, I don't know.

Is there a way to show fuel till empty on a FX truck?

The math got a little ahead of me... it definetly doesn't need 15 gallons to keep it cool. The only real suggestion is to take it to the dealer, there really isn't anything you can do short of dropping the tank and replacing the sender/sensor.

I've found my low fuel level beep comes on at 50 miles to empty according to the message center. Once the message center hits 0 miles to empty the tank still has 3-4 gallons of reserve.

55 ltrs is way too early. However be sure when you take it to the dealer it has just come on so they can see it themselves. I cant tell you how many times customers come in complaining that thier fuel level light comes on at the wrong time, but they bring it in with a completely full tank like the tech has all day to drain thier tank for free and refill it. It just wastes your time getting it back and the shop may put off working on it till they have time to drain it down.

Yes you can. You will also need the buttons and have it programmed once it's installed.
