I have tried asking these questions as replies to other threads with no luck. It's probably not very important so I can understand the lack of interest. Anyway I'll try again. My 06 runs just fine with no problems. Should I ask the dealer to do the injector purge reflash, or leave well enough alone? Also, will the dealer do this for free or will I have to pay for it? By the way, I live in NY so it sometimes gets pretty cold in the winter. Thanks in advance, John
They won't do it for free if you just go in and ask for it. If you go in and say that sometime it runs rough for the first few minutes after it sits overnight, they will probably reflash it. I recommend that flash, if it does so well for injectors that already have problems, imagine what good it can do if your injectors have no issues.
I did it on my 05 and do not regret it one bit. I was reluctant at first, talked to a few here who I trust and they all recommended it for the exact reason Canada Guy recommended, sticking or gumming injectors on the oil side.
I"m going to try and get to Amarillo TX tomorrow, and get my 33,000 maintaince done. I imagine they will flash mine at the time. They check and make sure we stay updated when we are there. Guess we will see if it works on mine.
Well I talked to my dealer about getting this flash for my '06. I didn't tell him I was having problems on start up in the morning for two reasons. First of all I find it hard to out and out lie to someone, and second I was afraid they would think something else was wrong and throw some parts at it. Anyway, I offered to pay for the reflash but they still would not do it because Ford hasn't said to. What now? Thanks for all your advice, John
