Please evaluate my proposed MODS and comment

I posted this in another thread but am unable to edit the title of the thread so I thought I would re-post with the correct title so as to attract the correct type of response.

THanks

Well if the seller accepts my offer I will soon be the owner of a low miles 04 PSD. I currently have a 01 6.8 so I know that brakes are a must, but this is my first foray into the PSD arena.

I am thniking of the following mods, but wanted to run it by the experts first

MBRP exhaust, now do I do cat or muffler delete or both?
AFE stage2 with pre-filter
Edge juice w/ attitude and pillar mount

I would do all the above at the same time

Would like to also lift the truck enough to fit 35's under it, but am unsure of the height needed for that and who makes the better kit (s) I am looking at the fabtech 3.5 lift

I am looking at going 325/65-18 on 18x9 rims

anything I am missing or a better recommendation please let me know

Thanks

Christian

I have the Donahoe Racing 5" with Procomp 35x12.50-17 All Terrains and I have no rubbing. The 5" Donahoe kit replaces the front and rear springs. I added their adjustable Pan Hard bar and shocks. It rides great, eliminated the axle wrap problem, has good articulation and a lifetime sag warranty. I would NOT go with any kit that uses blocks on the rear instead of new springs.

You can see some pics in my gallery or at the Donahoe site

MBRP comes without a catalytic converter, so that point is moot.

Personally, whether you go with a muffler or without will depend on how you like the sound. Getting a muffler delete pipe after the fact isn't very expensive, so I would suggest you go with the "standard" setup from MBRP and if you don't like the sound, get a muffler delete pipe afterwards.

I really like the AFE Stage 2 Pro Guard 7 filter setup I have. In reading all of the feedback both here and at other diesel sites, it seems like the general consensus is the AFE PG 7 filters really well, and provides excellent performance, it's just expensive. Some would say to opt for the Tymar or home made Tymar setup because of the expense.

I can't comment on the Edge Juice, but I say just go with the F5 chip and custom tunes from Jody and be done with it.

I've never seen anyone want to drop the F5 and go to the Edge, but I've seen quite a few people drop the Edge and go with the F5.

My wife is running a 6" lift with 37's... Revtek makes a nice lift... I am running there 4" lift and 37's with no rub.

AFE stage 2 is the best filter out for flow and second best for filtering... If you live where there is not alot of dust go with the standard filter. Flows about 20% more air.

Chip, Jody is great, so is Tadd at Elite Diesel. I have run every chip tuner out there and Tadd is the only one that stays on our trucks.

Got to get some gauges. I prefer Isspro, but any kind you chose you need a Pyro, Tranny and a boost (boost is more for fun but can help at times)

I would suggest a tranny valve body or valve kit to help the trans out. Edge has very little if any Tranny controls.

Don't you need longer brake hoses? Might as well look at Russel for the braided SS ones.

ckentling,

Good choices, get the AFE in Pro Guard 7 and ditch the pre fitler, cost is about the same) plus we have a year end Stage II promo in effect that helps). The Edge is good and gets you the gauges you need to, you can add an EVO later to increase the HP even more and still have on the fly adjustments as well. If you have any questions let us know. If you decide to get a chip over the Edge we stock all the TS Performance chips and can help you that way as well.
