i've got an '00 EB 2wd and the Owner's Guide states: "Some transmission fluids may be labeled as dual usage, such as MERCON and MERCON V. These dual usage fluids are not to be used in an automatic transmission that requires use of the MERCON type fluid."
and my Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF states: "Multi-vehicle formula recommended for use in GM, Ford...Ford Mercon and Mercon V..."
so...which one is correct? Do I need to find a different ATF (the Pep Boys here didn't have any synthetic plain Mercon, but there are other stores to look at).
I suppose I should be safe as opposed to sorry and try and find some plain Mercon synthetic; I'm just curious as to what you guys think.
No matter what your tranny type is, you will not have problems using Mobil1 ATF. Ford will discontinue the Mercon product and came out with a TSB that in effect states that all Mercon applications can use MerconV and that dual-rated product is OK to use in Mercon applications. I believe the number is TSB 06-14-4.

awesome, you're exactly right (and that is the correct TSB) - I just did a google search.
