I have an 06 F250 PSD. I have done a couple of the basic mods. Super Tuner and removed the factory muffler. I want to get rid of the soot catcher but the exhaust shop said they cant do it because it is a catylitic converter. I have been told that it is not a converter but a soot catcher. Which is it?
Federal regulations require all vehicles equipt with a cat is required to have them installed. ANY exhaust shop will not remove the cat without reinstalling the same one or installing a new one. This prevents them from paying federal fines for disabeling edmissions equiptment.
You have a converter installed on your 6.0L. I would suggest you buy a MBRP cat delete pipe and spend some quality time under your truck. If you are near VA I'd be willing to help if you if help is needed.
Heavy assault is right, but if you have a stock exhaust system the MBRP will not work, you need the AFE pipe as it has the stock ball socket flange design. If you need one let me know.
Mark: I know you got the line on MBRP but I got the cat delete pipe on my truck currently and it fits the OEM piping like it was designed that way.
I measured the out end of the MBRP and was SHOCKED to see it at 3.5". My intent was to use a 4" turndown that is streched to fit a 4"OD pipe. So I took a chance to see if the MBRP kitty pipe would fit the OEM exhaust and it worked.
I'm using part number FS9414. If it didn't really work I sure wouldn't be posting here.
MARK: I will say this the MBRP cat delete pipe doesn't have the rolled flange to fit into the MBRP DP. So there is a potential to not have a complete seal at that joint. Any exhaust RTV style sealant would do the job or just use a gasket.
7.3's were hit and miss and were not labeled as catalist trucks... So remove away... The 06 is labeled as a catalist truck so you can gut it or get a delete pipe.
