can this be done???

can cleveland 2v heads be ported to the size of the 4v's...i want to port and polish and cut for larger valves and install hardened valves seats but redesign the ports to they will have velocity...i want to do this for my friends 351C and i have a full race shop to work with.....i just want to know, can it be done???

Just look at a set of aftermarket heads. There are several types available.

Check here for some of them

the answer is no, the material is not there. the castings are completely different.

darn....can a hybrid be done so it has medium ports and medium valves?

that is the direction the aftermarket heads have gone. Parker Racing has "stuffers" that fit into the floor of the runners on factory 4V heads and work in conjunction with the Parker Funnelweb intake. CHI and AFD have incorporated the same idea into their alloy heads, and they also have intakes that work with their new sized ports in their heads.

if you were to enlarge the 2V ports to 4V size that would reduce the velocity at any given cfm. there are guys using 2V heads in racing applications and doing very well with them, however, the porting is critical. any too much removed in the wrong spot and you'll end up not making the power that was there to be made. thousandths of an inch make the difference in a max effort porting job. a "street clean-up" is hard to go wrong though.
