Flatbed ideas?

Ok so i think i posted somethin bout this a while ago but never really got anything back on it. So yea i wanna build a flatbed for the new ford i aquired (1988 ford f150 big 6 4x4). Basic flatbed. Also what kind of regulations do i need to meet and is there a law bout them btw im in PA.

I'd take a look at your nearest scrapyard for old medium duty flatbeds.
You can shorten them to fit, and narrow them if you like. I adapted mine by putting 2" square tubing across the original bed mount holes in the frame. Drilled to suit, bolted them on, laid bed in place, and welded the bed to the crossbars. I suggest welding an integral Reese-style hitch mount onto the bed, and maybe bolting on some big-truck tow hooks to make recovery easier. Mudflaps are easy to mount. I put my turn signals on the headache rack since I tend to smash low mount units backing up near junk. All cutting was done with a Sawzall and cheap spray oil to lube the blade.
