I am somewhat tempted to add one though. Last Sunday morning around 1:30, 1:45 I was coming home from Austin, going with the flow down I-75, traffic was going about 10 over (75 in a 65) and this idiot in a newer Mustang comes flying by weaving in and out of traffic doing at least a hundred.
Since when does I-75 go through Texas?????
I-35 YEAH,
BUT 75? What you been drinkin' son?
The last time I looked at a Road Atlas, I-75 starts in Michigan, Ohio,Kentucky,Tennessee,Georgia, Florida, BUT NO TEXAS!!!
Like I said,,, WHAT YOU BEEN DRINKIN'!

Maybe my paranoia kickn' in but the problem I see with this is that someone like a PO'ed girlfriend, neighbor or whomever, could get there friends together and all post your plate!

Good point, RGT.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for tagging these idiot drivers somehow, but sorry folks, PlateWire's system is flawed.
That's the first thing I thought of when I heard about it. Their system relies on the honesty of the reporting party to tell the truth about an observed incident. From the article:
"Anybody who supplies the material (on bad driving), that person would be subject to liability for libel," said Stephen Barnett, a professor emeritus at UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law. "The license plate would identify the plaintiff, the person who is being ridiculed or maligned. Of course, there are several possible defenses available - one is the truth, that (the incident) happened."
But I still think that it could be a wake-up call for some folks to see their plate numbers and description of said incident out there for everyone to see. Though probably most people won't care and will continue to drive however they feel like doing...such is the nature of the beast...

I had a guy yesterday pull in front of me turning right from a red light, I am on a green 3/4 of the way through he slows down and gives me the fist and finger. I was so pissed I wanted to hit him in the rear and shove him 100' or so then stop, get out and smack the living crap out of him and teach him some manners. Ignorant sob
So these people writing down the plate number and type and vehicle description
and a description of the driver could well be doing so while driving. Either that or the data may be inaccurate by the time it takes to get to an exit to log the info.
I have encountered plenty of idiots on the road, but it is difficult to memorize the
license plate data while trying to recover the situation without being killed, or harming
others.
I actually have a hard time believing anyone could write down or remember the license plate at all. Unless you were tailgating this person, pulling them over for a traffic infraction, or rubbernecking.
So unless you were a copper pulling them over, you were being an idiot too! I sure can't read a license plate at 4 car lengths.
