Habit tells me I need one, do I? I've seen the add on filter on the firewall that runs off the back oil pressure guage. If I need one, where do you buy this add on kit to add an oil filter? If I don't add an add on oil filter, I plan on changing the oil every 2 thousand miles. Comments appreciated.
There should be a stock can filter mounted to the drivers side head. Only about 30% filtering but better than none. With no filter at all you best be changing oil every 500 miles.
The new screw on adapters are around but not cheap. Motor City Flathead has a complete kit. Reds, Macs, and Flathead Jack may also have them. I found an old AC adaptor at a flea market and adapted it to my 286. Works fine but I still change oil/filter every 2500 miles....about 35K miles in 2 1/2 years.
