soft/drooping clutch pedal

I have a 89 Superduty with a 460 and 5 speed manual transmission. The engine was replaced along with the clutch last year. The problem I'm having is the clutch pedal doesn't return to the normal height after depressing it. The clutch still works but I have to raise it with my foot under the pedal. Any ideas on what might be causing this. The clutch has new hydraulics and pressure/clutch plates and throwout bearing. Thanks Matt

You will most likely need a new master cylinder. The piston seal probably has gone bad and is leaking past it, thus the pulling up on the clutch to bring it back up to full heighth. If you see any debris in the resevior it is probably from the seal falling apart.

Try bleeding the clutch. Mine did the same thing after I replaced my clutch.

Mine did the same thing. Also check the splines on your clutch pedals. My 91 F-350 jumped the splines and I wound up replacing the entire clutch system from the master cylinder to the throw out bearing and $500 later discovered it was the pedals.

Clutch kit, 56 dollars (fort wayne clutch)
Slave cylinder, 95 dollars (Advance)
Master cylinder, 60 dollars (Advance)
Hose, 15 dollars (pick n pull)

finding out that all you needed was an $18.49 et of pedals from pick n pull because the bushings wore out in yours and ate the whole aluminum bracket... priceless.
