Did you try what I suggested? You may need someone to hold the wrench on the bolt while you get set underneath, but it will work. The bolt on the passenger's side needs to rotate upwards, and it is VERY difficult to get any kind of leverage on it from that side. You can't really get at it from the driver's side since your arms aren't 4' long, there is too much crap in the way. The only option is down below. Look up from where the starter was mounted and you should be able to see it. What have you got to loose?

I have a 3.0L. when i replaced my tranny i cut the exhaust tubes. DONT do that. go and soak your exhaust manifold bolts with pb blaster and let it sit for a while, and get a torch
to heat them up if ya got to.
Dont go to autozone for your clutch. get one from ford or a better parts store.
You might as well change that slave cylinder out while your down there. I have to do mine now, after 40,000 on the rebuild.

update

Hi folks. Back again with an update & more questions. We finally got the one top tx bolt out. It was badly mangled, to extent could not get even a socket made for that sort of thing on it. Finally was able to hammer on a socket and get enough bite to get it off. Next broke off all 4 exhaust bolts. Drilled them out & replaced. Broke u joint on drive shaft, replaced. Got the thing back together, but can't get clutch to work. Spent all day bleeding . Master cylinder seems ok. Took off hose, and get pressure. Fluid runs clear from bleed screw at slave cylinder, but cannot build up pressure. Looked through inspection plate. Some movement, but not enough travel. I'm trying to figure out how this thing works. I'm thinking if I missed a seal (I don't think I did) I'd be getting leaks , but I'm not. Could the slave have been improperly installed ?

I went through the same thing with mine. I read somewhere that if you disconnect the master from the firewall and hold it vertical while bleeding things will go smother. I read about that after I bled the thing for a couple of days trying to get it to work. I finally got enough bled out that the truck was driveable but not right. Drove it for about a week and the clutch got better every day I drove it. Probably not the right way to do it, but I was running out of options.

Thank's I'll try that. The other possibility suggested is that the bleed screw on the slave may not be right at the top. Therefore a bubble may be trapped . I will try your suggestion, plus force fluid through the bleed line up. Will let you know if it works.

That did it. Shook master cylinder, a few bubbles came out. Works perfect. Thanks to all who replied.
