Has anyone ever ran Pennzoil long life 15w40?I know that Pennzoil use to be made from a parafin base and now they are pure base.I have seen FORDs sludged all to he!! using the old formula Pennzoil.

I bought a '94 toyota V6 motor (3VZE) for my '92 truck a few years ago, and the damn thing was a pennzoil motor. I pulled the valve covers and I literally had to to chip away that *****ty oil to get to the head bolts. I wasn't too impressed. then again, I only paid $300 for the motor and only needed the heads for my '92.
I haven't ever ran the new pennzoil and probably won't try to.....

Bought a truck that had Penzoil in it since it was new. When I removed the valve cover I thought there was another valve cover on under it. Nope, it was solid sludge. It was stock in every other respect. The guy had a good discount on Ford OEM parts so he used them including OEM thermostats. Every Penzoil engine I ever had to work on was so heavily sludged up it took twice as long to work on it because of the cleanup. It was real hard to keep all that crap from falling down inside the engine. Some did anyway. I usually had to flush out the engines with several gallons of solvent instead of just changing the oil which added time, mess, and cost.
p.s. If I had known about the Penzoil I wouldn't have bought that truck.
