Hi everybody,
I´m new to the truck hobby and to start I purchased a 1956 F-100 pick-up, the problem is that it has no bed, I have both rear fenders but no box. Somebody told me that the box can be done by some sheetmetal shops. Does any one have experience in doing this? Where can I get the dimensions of the parts that build up the box? Which model years interchange?
Please help the new guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
regards
I assume you are starting to purchase magazines that cater to old trucks. If so, you should have seen the ads for reproduction bedsides to replace yours.
Half the fun of this hobby is the search for the right part so while you can plunk down 1000 to 1500 for a 'new' bed, you may be able to track down an 'old' bed somewhere. Swap meets or guys that have 7 trucks in their back yard. There's a guy in Yuba City Califoria that probably has one but that is only good news if you live somewhere on the left coast. But start asking around and check the classic car ads in the paper. If you see someone who is selling 56 PU stuff, call em and ask if they have what you are looking for. The worst that can happen is they will say no. Makes for great stories after you drag your treasure home!!
