glow plug relay question

Question glow plug relay question

What is the min. voltage at the gpr during cranking and glowplugs still work? Have a truck put new glow plugs in and relay but still hard to start not realy cold like 50 or so. later on i was going to check batt.voltage during cranking.What does everyone think?

Voltage during cranking should be > 10.5vdc

There was a thread yeasterday where they were seeing 10.0vdc and the truck would not fire. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...tart-help.html

Agreed. While the manual states that when testing the GPR, voltage may be as low as 8.5 depending on the condition of the batteries, we have found that 10.5 is needed to start the truck. So the GPR may be good with the lower voltage reading of the batteries but the batts cannot start the truck. If you have low voltage at the GPR during WTS, I suggest also testing the batts during WTS. If the same low voltage is present, have the batts load tested or recharge them.
