First Diesel

Ive just got my first turck and it happens to be a 97 7.3 that is in perfect shap under the hood and every where else. Now when I say it is my first what im saying is Ive not even had a car yet this is the first thing I can call mine or at lest half mine.. I know some of the baseics of diesels but I also need to know some details about maintenance and any mods I might wount to make after I know what im doing. To put this simply HELP BEFORE I SCREW UP

Its gonna be pretty difficult to upgrade from the truck you have....in my opinion....congrats, make sure you change the oil, always use motocraft 15/40 or rotella 15/40 do not add any additives to the oil, as you will see as you browse the oil has multiple roles in this truck and you don't want to dilute its properties.

If you have the factory air box, i would ditch it for a Tymar, the factory air box is prone to letting dirt by. The stock downpipe is also very restrictive peice, and should be changed before any major mods. Good Luck and have Fun.

Thanks for the info, I think once I have the $ I will buy a new air filter. If anybody has other info or places to find parts or any thing you think a newbee needs to know about plese tell me. Because like I sed before I know im so lucky to have this truck and I dont wont to screw up.

the best piece of advice i can give is to ask before you do.....

hang around a while and after a couple months of reading you will know more about your truck than you ever wanted to know.
these are bad a$$ trucks.
