Question Visual difference btw. Kingping and Balljoint.

I was trying to figure if my truck has a front dana 44 or dana 60...the best i could come up with is there is C-385 on the bottom webbings and it looks like NO on the top webbings. I can't seem to find a 60 or 44 anywhere...

The best i can come up with is the Kingpin vs Balljoint to tell 60 vs 44 but i don't know what a kingpin or balljoint looks like.(i'm new to suspension stuff) Any pics or description will help.

What year of truck do you have? The dana 60 is a lot bigger than the 44 . The hubs are a lot bigger in the 60.

Dana 60's didn't get ball joints until 92 or 93.

If it's the truck in your sig, then most likely it's a dana 44. Take a pic of the hub and post it and someone will be able to tell from the pic.

if you look at the spindle of the front end. ball joints will be 2 joints one each side while a king pin will be a more solid longer unit.
please photo and post as asked above. all of us will be more then happy to help you out

Those are some nice shots of the differential housing... Now take one of where the knuckle meets the axle tubing.

you have ball joints.
now, to id the type of axle you have look at the hubs. if the hub fills the mounting flange, it is a D60. these pics are from 88 year trucks, but they will give you an idea of what to look for. this is a pic of a D60 hub.

a D44's hub will not fill the flange, you will be able to see some of it. here is a D44 hub.

It's a Dana 44. You can tell by the steering arm attached to the knuckle with 3 bolts.
