hey i need some input on what i should do i did a compression test on my truck and i have a bad piston what should i do. rebuild, find a motor, buy a new one or what gimmie ur thoughts. btw its a 302

first of all is it realy a bad piston? mabe its a burnt valve or some thing,if it was me id pull the head and see whats up then repair or pull,if a new engine is needed then go to a local engine builder and geter rebuilt DO not got to oreilys or autozone type thing and get one of those mexican overhauled engine's they just suck a local guy that you can talk to in person and have warrenty will be your best bet

I second that. Pull the head and assess the damage first. If the cylinder wall is gone it's probably toast. But if the cylinder is OK, just rebuild it. As far as replacement engines are concerned, it depends on how the truck is used and how you feel about it.

Depends on what you use the truck for or if you just want a beater to get around or whatever. I would get one from a wrecker if you can get cheap enough or do the rebuild yourself. But I agree with the other guys check it out first.
