What's the best program/chip

I've got a 99 f-350 6sp 4x4 quad-cab. I bought used it has 79000 on it. the guy i got it from said he had a 80hp chip but dont remember the name. he sold the chip before i bought the truck. its got isspro turbo temp and turbo pressure guages. what do i need to look for as far as temp and pressure??? it also has a straight pipe and stock filter housing with a k\n filter. Im new to the upgrades. any help would be greatly appreciated. he said the chip improved his fuel mileage up to about 21mpg. is this right? thanks

Grind that K&N up into bite size pieces and feed it to your turbo and put it out of its misery (the K&N, or possibly the turbo)

Spend some $ and get a nice intake or do the 6637/kwik intake mod.

Your boost will probably be under 5 psi at normal driving conditions, 7 to 10 on a highway uphill, and a maximum of around 22 when approaching a yellow light.

Exhaust temp (I assume that's what you meant with turbo temp) will generally be around 600-800 while driving normally, dropping to 400 at red lights and such. If it goes much over 1200, pull into the nearest dealership and purchase a new truck (EDIT--this is assuming the probe is mounted pre-turbo. If is mounted post-turbo, kindly remove the probe and flush it down the toilet, where it will serve more purpose)

Get a DP Tuner

Predator tuner for programing and reading and clearing codes. Just set it and forget it.
I have mine on 100 setting permanently. Never had any problems since I got it over 30,000 miles ago. Very little smoking at all with my BB turbo even under full throttle. A very efficient setting as good or better in performance than the chips at 80hp I'm sure. During a recent trip thru the desert to Phoenix, I was running neck and neck with Tahoes, Yukons, and 2007 Burbs. And pulled them up the hills. We were going 100mph. They were scratching their heads why they couldn't pass me. No check engine light was ever tripped so I didn't even have to clear any codes. My preturbo EGTs were never over 1000 no matter how hard I ran it. The low soot emissions and oil bypass keeps my oil clean much longer.
Couple the predator with the banks transcommand module makes a great dynamic duo for the drivetrain. My final mod will be a John Woods trans when it goes out.

I got my DP Tuner a while back and it's awesome. It really brings out the power in a 7.3. The only thing I miss from my Hypertech is the Tire Size/ Speedometer recalculation and the ability to read DTC's

Stay away from Edge stuff - their products for the 7.3 truck are disappointing especially the Juice w/ Attitude. (I know from personal experience)

I've run a Superchips tuner in the past, it worked alright I suppose. I know a guy who runs a Predator tuner and his truck runs pretty good, and another with a Hypertech tuner and it's a lot like the Superchips..

All of those in my opinion are sub par when compared to the DP-Tuner flip chip. It starts with the service you get Jody, then to the performance of the product, and the adjustability on the fly that makes it the best IMO.

I vote for the DP Tuner also. Cant figure out why I waited so long to get mine but all I can say is WOW!! Then do the Kwik 6637 mod to get the turbo whistle and then you will have that incurable disease called PMS.........Powerstroke Mod Syndrome. Beware, many have searched far and wide but there is no cure!
