Thanks guys for all your help. Ill get one after Christmas. are the guages I have suffecient enough (temp, tubo pressure) for the dp or do I need some different ones.
the guage itself says turbo temp. im not sure where to look for the probe for egt's. does the turbo temp really matter. wouldnt the guage say for egt. these were already on the pillar when i bought the truck.
Well it depends on where it is mounted. The most sought-after location is in the left hand exhaust manifold, looking something like this:
if it is there, the max temp you want to see is 1250*
The other location is in the exhaust pipe, at the outlet of the turbo. If it is there, it is usually in the first 5-6 inches of the start of the pipe. If it is there, the max you will want to see will be around 900*.
Predator tuner for programing and reading and clearing codes. Just set it and forget it.
I have mine on 100 setting permanently. Never had any problems since I got it over 30,000 miles ago. Very little smoking at all with my BB turbo even under full throttle. A very efficient setting as good or better in performance than the chips at 80hp I'm sure. During a recent trip thru the desert to Phoenix, I was running neck and neck with Tahoes, Yukons, and 2007 Burbs. And pulled them up the hills. We were going 100mph. They were scratching their heads why they couldn't pass me. No check engine light was ever tripped so I didn't even have to clear any codes. My preturbo EGTs were never over 1000 no matter how hard I ran it. The low soot emissions and oil bypass keeps my oil clean much longer.
Couple the predator with the banks transcommand module makes a great dynamic duo for the drivetrain. My final mod will be a John Woods trans when it goes out.
No Clue of the power of the DARK SIDE.....DP-Tuner.
Those that have had the other programmers/tuners, and that goes for just about all of them, have all been so impressed once they tried DP-Tuner.
And can't believe the incredible difference of power. People think they have something (me included) and then they run a DP-Tuner and never look back.
I've been running DP-Tuner for more than 1 1/2 years now. No Problems
I've had both Edge and Superchips and they both don't hold a candle to the DP-Tuner chip.
I don't know what you mean since I haven't had either. However, IMO, DP-Tuner is more like a custom fit vs buying a suit at a K-Mart Blue Light Special. One fits like it should and the other kinda fits something.
One thing I learnt. Universal means it fits nothing in this universe.

That was my concern when I bought my TS. Yeah, no specific PCM #s needed tells me it was a universal tune. Having said that, it performs quite well but I feel there is much more to be had. Bottom line, I didn't listen and saved $$$
If the question is who's the best, I cannot answer but my TS woke my rig up and I cannot stand to drive it in the stock setting. There is likely a DP chip in my future so there may be a TS 6 position chip for sale sometime in the future at a real reasonable price. I am still awaiting Strokin-it's dyno results with his new DP setup.
Having said all of that, my TS still rocks. Any good tuner or chip is better than the stock setup. If you want the best right up front, just spend the money. I could be happy with mine, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Right now my set up is so trouble free, I'm afraid to change.
But in the future when my trans is upgraded, I will be getting one of these: http://www.itpdiesel.com/store.php?crn=102&rn=521&action=show_detail
My X has PATS, so this new version will work without having an idiot light set.

Didn't listen to what and saved money? Why don't you see what tune you have with the TS and get one of Jody's reflashed PCM with one tune. Then you can compare one with the other. IOW, run your 50HP against say a 60HP Tow tune and see how you like it since the two are close
