"Check Gauge" light

"Check Gauge" light

On my 98 X the check gauge light (upper left side of the cluster) came on twice. I have no idea what this light is for. I do remember the second time it happens I was parked on a hill with about 1/8 tank of gas. After I got out on the road it went off in a few minutes.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Mine came on the other day. 98 X also. when I made a quick look across the dash I saw the oil pressure gauge come up and the light went off! On mine it means something is goofy with a gauge some where!

97MM manual states "illusatrates when the ignition is turned to ON and the engine temperature is high, the oil pressure is low or the fuel level is near empty". Being parked on a hill with 1/8 tank of fuel could certainly cause it to come on.
