I'm sure this has been asked before so sorry for the redundancy. Does using a performance tuner such as a Superchips tuner void the standard and extended Ford warranties? What would a Ford Technician say if he noticed I use a Superchips tuner to modified my performance to the Towing/Trailer performance level?
I read that the failed part has to be a direct result of the tuner and they have to be able to prove that. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, maybe we can get some responses from some techs. I would just pull it if you have to take it in, just to be safe. I know that my SCT is not supposed to leave "footprints" on the ECM.

Thank the US Government...The Magnusson-Moss Act states that the dealer has to prove the mods caused the problem.
I've had my truck worked on under warranty several times with a chip installed. Dealer knew it because I told them about it. All repairs were unrelated to having the chip so they didn't care.
If there is damage that they suspect the tuner caused, like an engine failure, turbo failure, trans failure, etc, good luck getting it fixed under warranty. Read your owner's manual. It covers this exact thing.
The M-M act does NOT cover anything that does not meet the manufacturer's specs. And what tuner keeps the factory programming exactly the same?
It all depends on the dealer you go to. I had one dealer that threatened to void my warrenty, and another said it was fine as long as I told him about it upfront.

It can not - go to the Superchips page and then to the FAQ pull down. It's the first question - then follow the link to SEMA and there is a bunch of information there. They do advise you to deprogram when you take it to the dealer. I've been told that it will lead the diagnostics on a wrong path. Warrentees are Federally mandated also - All the chips is doing is fine tuning the OEM program.

Will Superchip make good on a warrany claim that Ford rejects due to use of a Superchip product?

Burden of proof is on them. They tried that with my Brother in law and once they pulled out the law the ford boys closed there mouth and bought them the "Premium" ESP.

That's a big load of bull!
All the chips are doing is increasing the engine's power. That makes more stress on the engine and everything downstream of it. Once you add power, any damage you do to the truck is your fault, not the fault of a manufacturing defect. Now it should be up to the owner, or the chip manufacturer to fix it.
