Checked out the competition
Hey All,
With all of this talk about how the 6.4 will be, i thought i would try the competition just to see what is out there. I live in Ma and was lucky to find a 5.9 cummins with a 6 spd manual in my state. there are less than 5 in new england. I drove the truck and thought it was alright. it felt really touquey and was super powerful. I didn't like how it was necessary to shift every second becaus you cant stay in gear long enough. i also didn't like how low their standaard tranny is geared low. my 7.3 turns at 85 what that does at 75.
I also got to drive the new cummins 6.7l with the same 6spd tranny. It was not as bad as i epected. it is super detuned and seemed to be very similar to the 5.9. i think that it will be a good motor with a few years of refinement. the 5.9 is now at its prime and a great motor.
So what did i come up with?
I am going to stick with Ford. I am going to buy a nicer looking truck that rides better and has bigger back seats. i am going to trust that international made a great diesel and that fords testing has been sufficient.
