crossover pipe
I have read here that the exhaust smell in the interior is due to a crack in the crossover pipe.
My truck has 82,000 miles ('04 6.0), and the smell has just started coming into the cab.
Also, sometimes on a cold startup, or at the truck's whim, a large volume of white smoke will come through the driver's vent and floor, and also from the fender/hood gap on the driver's side, sort of like the truck was overheating. This will only last for about a minute or two. I just replaced all the filters, and noticed that the underside of the driver's side (frame, etc.) is covered in diesel soot.
I am guessing my crossove pipe is bad? Any suggestions?
Also, is the crossover pipe considered part of the turbo system as it is technically before the exhaust downpipe and feeds the turbo, or is it part of the exhaust system? (thinking of warranty issue loopholes here)
