Does anybody else get kinda depressed for no reason around the holidays? I have felt 'different' lately and not sure why. I'm on break from school, which does make me kinda bored. I'm just wondering when I'll snap out of this.
I would agree with you on the word 'bored.' I'm away from my friends, my routine, and my main job (studying). I'm only working 15-20 hours a week, cause the boss is cutting everyone's hours back. So... not working full time. I'm home a lot, and I'm away from my gal.
Yeah, it's a slow day usually, and when my parents get home, they grouch at me for not 'doing' anything all day. Basically that means that I didn't do things that they'd like to have done in the house... (not sure what, but I'm afraid to ask)
I always suggest volunteering time for a worthy cause to people who suffer from ther Christmas or even the winter blues.
Or get out and do something physical.
when I was young I never had time to get depressed.....now, with everything going on in my life ..... it is my life to be depressed.
I notice many 20 somethings get bored these days because maybe they were video game kids and didn't know how to create fun without TV being involved
I've been depressed on holidays before. One time was when I first moved a long way from my family & friends. The last time was Christmas 99. My dad passed away on Dec 23. That was a bad Christmas.
I dont really get depressed but I find I do hate everything alot more around the holidays. Something about everyone acting so cheerful, really annoys the crap out of me!
They say it's the most depressive time of the year.
Agreed, 'ben.
I believe most people are stressed/depressed because of the want/need/desire to 'not let anyone (or that special someone) down' at Christmas-time.
(Read as commercialization of the actual holiday is ruining people's lives!)
Pressure of needing to get __________________ (fill in the blank) done before the end of the year.
Noticing that the end of the year is closer than you want it to be, and that the list of things that you need to get done, is nowhere near completion.
Cold weather, or wet, rainy, snowy weather, decreases (or stops) the ability to get outside and _________________ (fill in the blank, again) so, boredom and lack of self-esteem take their toll.
I like to find a good radio station playin Xmas oldies....You know the real songs we had as kids like "I saw mama kissin santa claus" and "Im gettin nuthin for xmas" or maybe some Johnny Mathis........Helps me get in the right kinda xmas mood....
You need an idea to cheer you up........At least your here and not in IRAQ
Here's an idea: Go outside, take a nice, deep breath of fresh air. Go back inside, drink the water straight out of the tap. Take a long, hot shower and don't worry about bumping into anyone because your bathroom probably only has 1 shower and 1 toilet. Now order a pizza, watch some football, and drink a few beers with the alcohol still in it. Go to bed; it's been a tough day.
I'm really starting to hate Christmas. It gets more and more expensive each year.
It doesn't have to be.
For years I have made and given family & friends gift certificates for my own Pizza's.
Everyone loves it when I make it.... so I make the gift certificate in their name for ONE 12" Pizza of their choice ..it comes with a 7 month expiry date.
