Is it true that the F450 only comes as a crew cab with Dual Rear Wheels. I was under the impression from the Ford web site it was available as a SRW, but a dealer tells me it is DRW only? Does anyone have any information to the contrary?
I've seen F550s that were SRW... new ones may be different though... so at one time you could get F450/F550s as SRW.
If i remember correctly, F450 & F550 where always DRW from the factory, but some aftermarket companies made them SRW by installing "Super Singles" in place of the DRW.
Thanks to all for the help and answers. Looks like I will be ordering an 08 F350 instead of an F450. The benefits of the DRW does not overide the downside.
A DRW Regular Cab? Can't say i've ever seen one of those.
You may want to look around at your local Telephone, Electric, Gas and water company service trucks. Majority of there HD service trucks are Regular Cab DRW with a service body installed. Hence the reason Ford and GM have made Standared cab DRW CC trucks for years.

The benefits of DRW are more stability when towing and a higher GVWR & GCWR. If you don't need the heavier weight rating of a DRW and this truck is going to be more of a daily driver than a dedicated towing vehicle, then yes SRW would be cheaper to purchase, maintain and easier to park. The F450 was brought out for people who need the higher GVWR & GCWR that a Medium duty truck provides for towing their RV's, than what the F350 Light duty truck is rated for.
