Okay, I'm out of the loop on stereo's and speakers and such. I've got an '06 F350 Supercab with the factory 6 disc/radio. I plan on keeping the radio and add in the PIE FRD-04. What I would like to do is upgrade my speakers, both front and rear. What do you recommend. I'm not looking to add in any sub woofers or "boxes" as I like my under seat storage. Just looking for something to replace the stock speakers w/o spending a lot of money.
Also what are the sizes I need to look for too? Thanks for the help!
i have the perfect fix. head over to www.crutchfield.com and plug in your vehicle and they will tell you the sizes that you need. they also include directions and hardware needed. they make this stuff VERY easy
good luck! (if you use crutchfield you will not need it)
I was in the same boat when I first bought my truck. Ford should be embarassed with the quality of stereo they have in the Lariat trucks!
The first thing I did, like stated above, visit Crutchfield's website. I found a nice set of 4x8 Polks on Clearance and installed all 4 replacing the stock units. It took all of 30 minutes to do that. The sound quality was improved, but not much. The sound problem is in that crappy headunit! Replace that and you'll be a happy camper. Look at the Alpine 9857, it allows you to browse through your ipod from the headunit as well as use your steering wheel controls. You'll be amazed at the difference, a guy I work with has that setup and the sound quality compared to mine is night and day.
Thanks for the inut Matt and Matt. I went and signed up with Crutchfield. Man it make ordering things for your vehicle a breeze as it only show you "what fits" your vehicle. I wound up putting 2 set of speakers and the PIE in my wishlist. Maybe I'll get lucky and Santa will bring them to me............
I'll try the speakers first and see if I like the difference. If it's not better, then I'll get a new head unit too.
