I'm new to this forum and many of you have good comments and ideas concerning the 6L PSD. I have a 2007 F-350 crew cab that is scheduled to go back to the dealer for an "initial" check after buying the truck 3 weeks ago. One of the things they said they will check is the oil. My question is what do they check? If they are only checking the level, I'm not sure they checked it when I bought it so how does one know if it lost/burned oil if they don't even know where it was before purchase. Also, do they extract a small amount of oil to do an anaylsis on metal content?? Just curious prior to taking it in.
Probably checking the oil level. Most of us here change the oil at 1000 miles on the new engine to get rid of the manufacturing contaminates that could be in the engine. Some also change oil at 5000 miles after the first change. Enjoy the truck and keep us posted.
Is this complimentary or are they charging you? If complimentary, great - let 'em go. If they are charging you, you can check the oil yourself along with any other fluids they would check.
They checked just basic dumb stuff, no oil sampling/anaylisis. I did tell them I have wear into the serpentine belt that very visual, they said probably bad belt because it is only wearing at a certian point and not all the way around as I think it would be if it were a pulley problem.
Question: When I took it in the info data said +/- 13.7 MPG, when I got the truck back the trip odometer was erased/reset and now the truck is getting 9.5 MPG on the info data. What did they do??
