Easy exhaust question
I'm doing my first ever exhaust project (headers, Cat, and Cat-back).
Vehicle (if it matters): 89 F250, 460/7.5, 4x4.
How do I get the old exhaust out of those cotton-pick'n rubber hanger assemblies?
I've pushed, pulled, wiggled, etc to I was blue in the face.
There has to be some 'obvious' way to do it easily that I can't think of.
Maybe I've been breathing in too much PB fumes?

I use spray lube and a big set of channel lock pliers. They make a tool for this also:

when i did mine i cut the exhaust of the hanger, sprayed the hanger with wd40 and yanked the small metal piece out with a pair of visegrip pliers.
the wd40 trick also works when rehanging the exhaust, spray down the rubber part of the hanger and slide the metal piece in.

Remove the whole hanger from the chassis. They're much easier to remove when you're not lying on your back under the truck.
There are special lubes for rubber, but a very good one is dishwashing soap and water in a spray windex bottle.
