what's in the Diff?

what gearing is in the rear differential of a stock 302ci 1992 150 xlt, 2wd, automatic, reg cab, short bed

read the code on your door and go to top of page articles/specs and look it up.

the VIN decoder is telling me that my truck is a 5.0 v6. ive got a v8. also, it doesnt tell me what my gear ratio is.

You need the axle code from the tag inside the driver's door, not the VIN. Then check it to the chart from the link above.

does this mean it has 2.73 gears? that sounds a little high to me.
what size is the ring and pinion and how many splines?

if the code is 12 than you have 2.73 gears.

i checked the owners manual and now i think i have the wrong code. the Safety Compliance certification label has been peeled off. the safety compliance certification label has the code im looking for, right?
