High idle problem.

I have a 1994 Ford ranger 4.0L 4x4. When I first start up my truck it idles fine, but once it sits for a minute or so, it starts idling high. Once in drive the Idle is still high and I can do 30mph without touching the gas. Any helpwould be appriciated.

Could be a vacuum leak! Check all your connections at the upper intake & If it has cruise control, check the vacuum hose to the actuator. Also check the vacuum line to the PCV valve, it is hard to see but check for a crack in the hose.

If its not a vacuum leak, most likely its the idle air control (iac) solenoid - they have a tendency to get sticky and stay open too far, which makes the idle speed stay up too high.
