Home depot has replacement plug ends.. i got an oarange one that is "contractors approved". Cut your old plug end off. Install new. Saturate the inside of your new plug end with die-electric grease before you button it up. You cant use to much of it so if its oveflowing when you close it up just wipe off the excess. From my experience the oem plug ends draw moisture and trip breakers. I'm guessing thats your prob.
Well the block heater cord is easy to change. Here is the funny part, you get get the block heater kit cheaper than the cord itself. I just purchased the block heater kit for my truck. It was cheaper by almost $20. I changed the element also because I was putting in my new 203 degree t-stat also.

Thats funny... where'd you buy it from?
The plug flush mounted in the bumper is a boat part, one of the many mods I still need to do.
I bought it from the Lincoln Mercury dealer I used to work at. Granted I got a better deal than the average customer but when I worked there we would sell customers the kit because it was cheaper than buying the cord alone. Check at any Ford dealer and they will tell you the same thing. I got the whole kit for $44. My block heater element was pretty corroded when I pulled it out and now that I changed it the truck starts faster and is warmer on my temp gauge than ever before.
