I have a 2005 f-350 6.0 liter that has not been run for at least 5 months , the problem is that when you take of from a stop you can floor it and their is no power , it takes about 5 to 10 seconds for the turbo to build 20PSI and then she takes off , the same when you go to pass someone you hold it to the floor and it will eventually build boost , the truck runs great other than that . i think the turbo is sticking , is that something that can be pulled apart and cleaned or is it a sealed unit any help would be greatly apretiated
Sounds like the turbo vanes are sticking. Try and get the truck out on the highway and hammer it hard to try and clear the soot from the vanes. These trucks, from what I have read, don't like to idle for extended periods of time because if this issue. You have to put your foot to te floor from time to time. Mine always seems to be on the floor
the best thing to do is put the truck in third gear and go play and romp the throttle as much as possible. more than likely, if it is that bad, then you wont be able to fix it because of rust on the unison ring. then again you could have other issues that are causing the boost issue.
