I put IPR o-rings on and cleaned my intercooler boots on Saturday. All went well and the truck starts and runs a lot better now. But, While I was in there I noticed an extra 2 wires and plug that don't go anywhere. It's a short harness, about 6 inches long down in the v of the motor near the wires for the IPR. It's got a plug with a metal bail on it just like the IPR plug. They were real dirty, but I think one wire was yellow/red and one was black/white. Any ideas on what these wires go to?
That sounds like the EBPV connector. It goes in the front of the base of the turbo pedestal just behind the intake spider. Unless you have very skinny arms remove the pass side IC pipe and it will be easier to connect. If you want to connect it.
The trucks got an exhaust brake on it that uses the valve. It's some kit thats been bought- its not home made. It was on it when I bought it, so I don't know how it was installed, but could it be that the kit came with a new plug for the valve and this one isn't used anymore?
The truck was hard to start when it was hot and had been turned off for a few minutes. If you're going to clean your IC boots, its really easy to get to the IPR because the intake spider and boots are out of the way. I've heard most people say that you need to either buy or make an extra deep socket by welding a piece of steel to a 29mm deep socket, but I used an CV axle nut socket and it was plenty deep- I was able to use a 1/2" drive ratchet on it.
