I'm changing out my front shocks this weekend. I'm going to install the Bilsteins #BE5-2818 $69.00 each. Purchased from Geno's Garage. Never used them before but heard alot of good things. My truck is stock, no lift kit. The number I gave was for the 99 F250 Super Duty 4x4. Hope this helps.
I just put Bilstein's on my 04 F350 w/ a leveling kit and they're awesome. The ride is much better than stock. It didn't help that I had a couple of "dead" shocks. So I don't think you can go wrong w/ the Bilstein's.
...what leveling kit did you use...and where did you get the new shocks?
Beemr,
I bought my leveling kit and shocks from Jack-It Industries. It is essentially a Tuff Country kit. And they have 5 or 6 different shock options. I chose the Bilstein's because I've read nothing but good things about them and I have a friend w/ the Rancho RS9000's and in my opinion they are NOT worth the money. 5 different settings and I can't tell a difference between any of them.
Anyway, the 2.5" leveling kit lifted the front of my V10 F350 3.25". It's now almost level, about 3/4" lower, front to back. It allowed me to fit 315/75R16 Toyo Open Country M/T's. I had to trim about 2" off the backside of the plastic factory chin spoiler on the front so they didn't rub when I was off camber. Overall, I'm very pleased. I'm planning on posting some pics in my gallery very soon. I hope this helps.
Dave
