Now that my '06 F250 PSD auto has about 12K miles on it the accelerator pedal has begun to pop and snap when the throttle is modulated. It can be felt under the foot and can be audibly heard. A 2005 F350 gas I drove for a while did the same thing. It is particularly suceptible to doing it when the weather is really cold. It is very annoying to say the least. I'm sure others are experiencing this, has anybody done anything about it? Fix it yourself? Take the truck in for a replacement? Other than that the truck has been flawless.
The pedal has 3 position switches, I believe, and it will still function with two of the three operational. Do you have the adjustable pedals? Might be a problem with that mechanism also.
It's warranty. Take it in and have it checked out.

No, it's not related to the adjustable pedal option as I do not have that. It is an inconsistent ratchety feeling in the accelerator pedal that you can hear when you press it or release it. You would know exactly what I mean if you had it. Instead of the pedal going up and down smoothy it is jerky and hangs up a little. I was thinking I may be able to lube something? Might have to make my first trip to the dealer.
pamelbert how is it that you had a new pedal available?
I've got 14K n my 06' and have not had a problem, its been pretty cold here too (Phoenix)I think it even dipped into the high 40's last night. hee hee hee!

Nice one turbo, my dad lives near Phoenix now that he's retired. For some reason he now thinks 40 degrees is cold even after 30 years here in Alaska. I saw -6 degrees 2 nights ago. 40s is practically short sleeve weather =) Thanks for the reply.
OATS, I bought an 06 dually and changed the pedals to the Harley stainless steel ones, so I had the extra pedals, but than I traded the dually for an 07 Harley, so I put the original pedals back and sold the Harley pedals on ebay. Changing the pedals requires removing 3 nuts and unpluging the harness, I don't believe there is a accelerator cable, it's drive by wire, so any sticking issues would be in the accelerator pedal assembly, simple fix take it to the dealer and order another pedal, takes 2 minutes to change it.

Yeah, I believe it's a rheostat system and therefore is cableless. Thanks for info on the simplicity. I just simply haven't gotten a chance to dig into it with very cold temps and a hot rod project taking up the garage. Thanks again.
