Well I got the DP back (I sent the entire PCM) and got it put in today. I must say it was really easy putting the box back in and routing the ribbon cable to the switch. I got the 60tow, 80 econ and Lope idle which is associated with the 120 tune! The lope definitely takes some getting used to. I have yet to take it out on the open road because of some "wierd things" going on driving down the road. The doors would lock and unlock for no apparent reason and the parking lights would blink along with the door locks...
Not sure where these signals are coming from but everything was "ops normal" before I pulled the PCM and sent it to Jody. I called him this afternoon but probably won't hear back till monday...any thoughts???
Man Dave, that's a bummer. At least you can be sure they will take care of you. I know that is not what you want to be experiencing right now. So did you get the F5? If so, why did you send in the PCM? Curious minds want to know. Wadup?
I have the F5 and i have no problems with the ribbon connector. Did this phenomenon just happen recently or did it start as soon as you plugged the chip in?
If the lope idle is not lopey enough for you, set the parking brake firmly, and put the truck in gear. It will put it under some load and boy does the lope sound nice.
Yeah I guess I did it the easy way and just sent the whole PCM. I was gone to Cincinnati last week so I just sent the whole thing in before we left, and while we were gone and didn't need the truck, he did the program and sent it back and it was waiting on me when I got back. I got the F5 with the 60tow, 80econ and the Lope idle is tied in with the 120 tune......it is wicked but I am gonna baby it just cause I don't want to waste the tranny...I just got the chance to put it in today. I just figured I would send the whole thing rather than try to disassemble it myself and I knew it was going to be done right. The door locks and light thing has me baffled though. I think I will be taking it to work anyway sunday just to see how it acts out on the road. I was setting at a stop sign and in the lope idle, is sounded like it was gonna die...but the brake held..barely..it was itching to fly. Now to get the minor glitches worked out and the egg off of the glasss....pain in the azz neihbor kids egged the truck while we were gone....hopefully that is the end of bad luck for a while.
The valve body arrived today. I installed it and put a few miles on it (about 50ish) tonight, beat on it a little which is rare. I'm going to hold out to say wether or not i like how the TC does not lock when shifting to 2nd on hard throttle. I do like how the TC stays locked when downshifting, when decelerating, and most of the time when i would normally have it locked with the old chip. It does not downshift as easy, especially on 140, which makes more smoke and doesn't rev the **** out of the engine. Lope idle is enough to give you a chubby, amazing. The power is amazing all around, the 80econo is defanitely stronger than the 140 setting on the TS. should have some footage here soon.
i want them too. I will be happy with 320 and 650. It sure feels like alot more tuarque and power than the old chip. Plus now i can finally trigger the SES light, probably (hopefully) the p1211.
Dave, I guess I still don't understand why you sent the PCM in to get an F5 chip. Is that necessary or did you feel he would for sure have your code?
Well I was going out of town for 7 days, and rather than me pull the box out, take the chip off of a circuit board, send that in, and try to reinstall the chip on a circuit board, and reinstall the box, I figured it was idiot proof just to send the whole PCM. It was relatively easy to remove the box, pack it up, fed ex it out and reinstall it when it came back. Now that I see the F5 switch, ribbon cable and the way it is connected, I am glad I sent the whole thing to him.

You know I will be following your results. Give me the straight poop as usual.
