I live here in Salt Lake City, Ut. and every winter I get little rust spots after it snows from the salting. I believe these are on top of the paint, for the most part, becuase after rubbing the spots very hard I can usually get them off. The problem is there are a lot and you do have to rub pretty hard. Does anyone know an easier way to get these spots off without destroying the paint and how to stop them from occuring. I always give the truck a coat of wax before the snow in hopes that it will stop it.
Thanks,
Ron W.
The rust marks are at chips/imperfections in paint (paint cracks, thin spots, ultrasmall chips). A good heavy coat of paste wax and consistant washing in the winter is about the best thing you can do to stop the "gold anodizing" spots you get on the paint. A repaint is the only way to stop them for a long time.
