Well, I just finished going over my rear brakes. Replaced the shoes, cylinders, and springs. I adjusted the brakes and am ready to adjust the e brake. The Chiltons manual calls for using a cable tension gauge and adjusting to at leasdt 350lbs. Does anyone have a good method for doing it without the gauge?
Soon to be stoppin strong
Thanks,
Kyle

Jack the vehicle up, spin the wheels, make sure they are free. Put the pedal about 1/2 way down, adjust the tensioner under the truck until the brakes are locked solid, check both sides, then release the brake. Spin the wheels, they should still rotate freely.
Put the truck down, put it in 1st gear with the parking brake all the way down and LIGHTLY apply the gas for a quick goose. The vehicle should hold. If you floor it with a healthy powerful engine you will overcome the brakes and possibly glaze the shoes.
