Ok…This morning accidentally hit the shifter while I was going around 40 and it went into reverse, and truck died, I had to pull over and restarted it, now it turns on and dies out right away I have to put into drive quickly and keep my foot on gas, if I want to keep it running,
Doesn't sound good. Sorry I can't help, beyong that. I have always feared doing that because the SD shifters seem very easy to move out of position. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
well there is no codes, only problem is rpm, it just doesnot want to stay steady, good thing there is no transmission damage, it shifts just fine and reverse works just fine too, least so far. I agree shifter moves so easy.
Gas or diesel? The inability to idle sounds like a typical IAC (idle air control) motor failure, but that would be unrelated to the shifting problem...
I would pull the battery ground cable, turn on the headlight switch for a few seconds, turn off ligh switch. Reconnect battery ground cable and make a few drive cycles...to let the computer relearn strategies. Then if you STILL have problems, check back. Is it a gas or diesel?
well it sounded like iac problem to me to first, but I disconnected battery cables, and put it back during my lunch break, it works just fine now.. it was a very strange experience..but everything is back to normal... I guess time will show if any tranny damages caused by it...
again thanks for all the help...
