Well I got my x-cal2 last night with the extreme tune from innovative diesel and all I have to say is HOLY ^$@(@ I am absolutely astounded by the increase in power. Only really got into it once from a dead stop and well lets just say this two wheel drive monster is looking forward to receiving its SHUR-TRAX bed weight installed.. This tuner is astounding at all speeds cruising on the highway need to get over no problem.. This is my first Diesel, and I am impresed.. Now thinking what is my next step.. Got the AFE MEga intake system 4" turbo back exhaust, X-Cal2, now what maybe injectors?? any suggestions or should I go with head bolts first?
I would pay some attention to the trans next. You are making 60-150 hp over stock, and the trans may not like that. If factory tech has valve bodies yet for the 5r100, That would be my next purchase. I have one in my 02 that I love.
I don't know alot about diesels, but you probably will need a new tune if you upgrade the injectors or turbo.
The SCT will improve tranny shifting in the 5R110 immensly over stock. I would make an investment in gauges if you haven't already. Unless you're gonna go full tilt racing I wouldn't waste my money on an A/M intake--the stocker is the best protection for your motor and turbo and flows all the air the stock turbo can use. If you don't have a problem with puking then don't disturb the heads. If you're gonna tear it down anyway then go with the studs. Check out the competition diesel section for suggestions on what stages to go through to get you a hot rod diesel.
