I am looking for advise on buying a SCT programer. I have a 2006 250SD w/5.4 and 5 speed auto. It is also equiped with a Gear Vendors under/overdrive behind the auto, used for towing a 9000lb trailer. Have used a programer with my Ranger and was happy with the results. Since the Gear Vendors makes changes to my programming for the transmission do you think a Excalibor 2 is compatible with it? I dont want to have to dyno the truck to gain just 10-20 hp.
As long as the GV calibration is just to the trans file, upload it after you install a power tune. Do it that way should leave the engine parameters up to the tuner, and the trans parameters would be your tunes modified, but tweaked by GV stuff.
I have a 2006 F250 w/5.4 and 5 speed auto. I purchased custom tunes from Troyer Performance. He uses the SCT excaliber II for the tunes. Give them a call. I am sure he can hook you up. He claims up to 30 hp gains with his tunes. After you load them, he recommends datalogging to be sure the A/F ratios are good and the tune is working properly.
