I have a 2000 F250SD 7.3L. It's a 4 door, longbed with auto trans. It is twin I Beam and 2 wheel drive. I am interested in converting it to 4 wheel drive. Has anyone else done this, and if so can I get a detailed list of parts and procedure and cost etc. Thanks, Tommy
Your best bet is to find a wrecked 2000 F-250 4x4 with the same wheelbase and take the parts off of it. It needs to have all divetrain parts intact.
The swap will be extensive. The only potion of your present drivetrain that will be kept will be the rear axle, and only if the gear ratio matches the ratio of your donor vehicle.
You will need to install a totally new front suspension, front axle, transfer case and new drive shafts. You will need to get the parts to activate the 4 wheel drive, be it manual or electronic.
